Frequently Asked Questions

Will my baby have attachment issues if I bottle feed instead of breastfeed?

This is a common myth amongst new mothers. It is your child and he/she is going to get attached to the mother no matter what you choose to do. The important part is that the baby should be having mother's milk, how is the baby taking it is entirely upto the mother. It is and has to be a mother's decision on how she wants to feed the baby.

If I drink a glass of wine or beer while I am lactating?

If you are planning to have alcohol, pump your milk before your party and store it. After having alcohol (1 glass) you have to wait for atleast 2 hours before you pump again or breastfeed. Incase you decide to have more

Can a newborn have her days and nights mixed up?

Absolutely. This happens all the time, so you need to help your baby flip his/her internal clock. Go for a walk, or get her into the sunlight, especially during the morning. Speak to her in a happy, energetic tone to signal that it's daytime. In the evening, keep the lights dim, whisper when you speak, and move slowly to tip her off that it's time to sleep.

Is green poop normal?

Yes. So is brown, light yellow, and seedy mustard. These variations depend on whether your baby is drinking formula or breast milk. You can ignore the color unless it's white and chalky, thick and black, or red. These tints could signal an illness, so let your pediatrician know right away.

Will my baby sleep through the night ever?

It will happen eventually but that is going to take a while. Babies till 3 months are trying to adjust to the environment and needs feed on demand which might be every 2 hours more or less. Sleeping hours will increase only with time. As they grow a set routine will help them and the mother realize.

Is by baby drinking enough milk?

The proof is on the scale. A new born will put on weight every month since it is born. This is the indication that he/she is having enough milk and is also getting the required nutrition as well. Incase the increase of weight is not seen, go to a pediatrician.

Am I A Terrible Mom If I Formula Feed?

No! Did you hear that? I can say it again for you one more time just to be sure: NOOOO!!!! Formula feeding your baby does not, I repeat, does not make you a bad mom. It’s no surprise that moms who don’t breastfeed tend to feel extremely guilty.

“Breast is best” is pumping into pregnant woman's’ ears from the day she finds out she is pregnant and even before. But in reality, fed is best, plain and simple.

For many different reasons a mother might not be able to breastfed and others make the choice not to. There are many benefits to formula feeding, including the nutritional benefits your baby receives and the fact that your partner gets to have an equal hand in feeding your baby.

I am not able to bond or connect with my baby? Will my baby hate me for this?

If you’re dealing with a colicky or extremely fussy baby, it can be overwhelming. When it feels as though your baby is always crying, you’re sleep deprived and at the end of your rope, it isn’t a stretch to start thinking your baby doesn't like you or he/she is crying when you pick it up.

To set the record straight, no, your baby does not hate you.

But if you are feeling like you aren’t bonding with your baby, try to make time each day for activities that will help you and baby bond. Try to get a bit of extra skin-to-skin time with your baby or read to your baby as often as you can.
