When I say my child is bottle fed, lot of mothers around judge me for that. However, once they realize that my baby boy is drinking his mom’s freshly pumped milk, they ease up a little.

My Son Viaan and I (From Breastfeed to Bottle Feed)

My son viaan and me

I breastfed my child for a month and after that I switched to pumping full time, in order to keep up with the feed. Kids these days are smart and they know when they have an easy access. My little one found that in the bottle and made the switch instantly. He stopped latching and that is how I started pumping full time.

Like all the mothers, I was also worried that giving bottle is not good and a child should directly have from the breast. This is when my mother and mother-in-law came into the picture and made me understand that the child drinking your breast milk is important and not the method. Whether he takes it directly or via bottle doesn’t matter till he is having your breast milk.

To tell you the truth, I was adamant on breastfeeding him as I thought that was the most natural way. But eventually with time I learnt that pumping is also a good option. There is no harm in doing so. And today as his mother, I can proudly say that I have a healthy baby who is bottle fed and that too with no regrets.

This is to the mothers who are reading this post, trust me when I say that pumping was the best decision I made and I am relieved of the stress, worries and lot many things because of that. Infact, pumping will help you generate more milk. “The more you pump the more you get” is the logic behind it. So if you are thinking of pumping full time and not breastfeeding, do not think of what the society is going to say, do as you like since it is your child and he/she is not going to judge you for doing it.
